Paths of a Vine (John 15:1)

Have you ever made the wrong choice? I don’t mean simply you should have chosen yogurt and not the 4 chocolate doughnuts with sprinkles. I mean, the “you are going the wrong way on a one-way road and there is no way to turn around that you can see,” kind of choice? Maybe it started out as just a decision to do something you thought was the right one and now you’re not so sure. Or maybe you knew that it was crazy but thought you were taking a “step of faith” but now it’s pretty clear, this one was all on you. Do you know what I mean? I know I have. I have also watched how God miraculously changed what looked like the wrong road into the only road to where HE needed me to be. That’s how God is. He uses our UN-PERFECTED lives to fulfil his PERFECT will.

Whether it is literally using a wrong turn to help someone stranded on the side of the road or more figuratively using a mistake to serve HIS purpose, God has his children. Proverbs 3:6 shows us how beautifully our Heavenly Father can reroute our “mistakes” to be masterpieces. “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:6 (ESV)

Looking back over my life, I can see countless redirections and detours that were divine. From a switched schedule leading me to my husband to a failed move that gives me the opportunity to see God’s provision which helped me release my control-freak grip on my family’s finances, God always sees what’s coming and uses it. After all, he is the Vinedresser, never letting anything go to waste.
